Vice President Kamala Harris spoke at South Carolina State University (SCSU), a historically black college and university (HBCU), on behalf of President Joe Biden and against former President Donald Trump on the day of South Carolina's open Democratic primary.

As an alumna of another HBCU, Howard University, Ms. Harris said, "HBCUs are centers of academic brilliance."

"In South Carolina, South Carolina was the driving force behind President Joe Biden's and my ascent to the White House," she said. Democrats have made an effort to push South Carolina up the party's primary timetable during the Biden administration.

Additionally, she attacked President Trump, claiming that "he fights for himself."

The vice president said that President Trump has stated that he has a "intention to weaponize the Department of Justice," despite Republican accusations that Democrats are using the agency as a weapon against Republican opponents.

The previous president, she said, "has inspired, encouraged, and even cowed fanatics throughout our nation."

On January 22, the Democratic primary began early voting. The primary on February 3rd will see polls open at 7 a.m. and conclude at 7 p.m. Since the primary in South Carolina is accessible to all state registered voters, everyone may take part. However, voting in the Democratic primary would prevent a person from taking part in the Republican primary later this month, which will match President Trump against former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley.
