Two resolutions that are making the rounds among RNC members aim to impede Donald Trump's efforts to seize control of party finances and operations. According to the Dispatch, one of the proposals put out by veteran Mississippi committeeman Henry Barbour would forbid the RNC from paying the millions of dollars that Trump owes in legal expenses.
The other would ban the RNC from working with Trump or his campaign on fundraising, according to NBC News, by forbidding the Republican Party from declaring him the party's presumed presidential candidate until he has secured a sufficient number of convention delegates.
As to the text, "The Republican National Committee and its leadership will maintain their neutrality during the Presidential primary." According to the New York Times, a Trump advisor questioned the non-binding resolutions. Chris LaCivita said, "Republicans cannot stand by and let this happen. The primary is done, and it is the RNC's entire obligation to beat Joe Biden and take back the White House."
As part of the new administration that would include Lara Trump as co-chair, the former president has already said that he wants LaCivita to take on the role of chief operating officer for the national committee.
Another committeeman's proposal short asked the RNC to name Trump as the front-runner. After the bill was made public and Trump declared his opposition to it, it was dropped.
The former president does not exactly have a clear opponent in the campaign for the nomination; according to CNN, Nikki Haley said that she is remaining in the GOP contest after losing badly to Trump on Saturday in the Republican primary in South Carolina.
