As he advances toward the GOP presidential nomination, former president Donald Trump has won the Republican primary in Michigan. Following the conclusion of the state's final polling, the Associated Press (AP) declared the election in favor of Trump, indicating that he had decisively beaten the last opponent left, former governor Nikki Haley (R-SC).

The New York Times' election figures as of 9:11 p.m. ET revealed that Trump had 65.6 percent of the vote to Haley's 30.2 percent, with an estimated nine percent of the vote counted. Entire 39 delegates will be awarded at the GOP state convention in Michigan on Saturday; the 16 delegates that are tied to the primary will go to that event.

Haley is under more pressure now that Trump has won his predictable election. On Saturday, Haley lost by 20 points in her own state of South Carolina to the 45th president. That came after Trump easily prevailed in each of the previous four nominating contests this season, which included Nevada, Iowa, New Hampshire, and the Virgin Islands.

With the announcement on Tuesday that pastor Ryan Binkley is withdrawing from the campaign in order to support Trump, Haley is now the only contender left in the race.

"I am giving my endorsement and steadfast support for President Trump and halting my candidacy for the presidency of the United States of America," Binkley said in a post on X.

The great bulk of the field, which at one point included over a dozen contenders, withdrew before or after the Iowa caucuses, when Trump handily defeated his rivals. Among the other previous Republican primary contenders who have endorsed Donald Trump are the governors of Florida and North Dakota, Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy.

With 110 delegates to Haley's 20 as of Tuesday night, Trump was leading her by a significant margin. After Tuesday night, the disparity will grow much further. After three additional elections in which delegates were up for grabs, Haley's lead against DeSantis was just 11 delegates before to the Michigan primary.

A huge setback for Haley occurred on Sunday with the announcement that Americans for Prosperity, an organization supported by the Koch brothers, was stopping its funding for her campaign. Furthermore, the 45th president has started to focus on the general election as she stammers ahead with her outrageous ambition. On Thursday, he and President Joe Biden are scheduled to give opposing speeches at the southern border.
