On Friday, President Joe Biden will be involved in the repatriation of the remains of three American soldiers who tragically lost their lives in a drone attack at a base in Jordan. The attack has been attributed to Iran-backed militants, according to Washington.

In the midst of ongoing conflicts between US forces and Iran-backed groups in Iraq and Syria, as well as engagements with Yemen's Huthi rebels, this incident marked the first instance of US military personnel being killed by hostile fire in the region since the October 7 Hamas attacks on Israel.

The bodies of William Jerome Rivers, Kennedy Ladon Sanders, and Breonna Alexsondria Moffett will be transported to an air force base in Dover, Delaware, where they will be given military honors upon arrival. In the aftermath of the bombing at the Kabul airport on August 26, 2021, the president visited the base to receive the bodies, as part of the US pull-out from Afghanistan.

According to the White House, the attack on the base in Jordan, near the Syrian border, was carried out by a militia known as the Islamic Resistance in Iraq. Biden has promised a response, but the details of when and how he will do so have not been made public.

The Democratic president is facing increasing pressure during an election year, with Republicans, including his predecessor Donald Trump, aiming to regain control of the White House.

The Democrat, who has experienced numerous personal hardships, is known to display strong emotions when consoling grieving Americans.

He reached out to the families of the soldiers who tragically lost their lives in Jordan, ensuring their comfort with his attendance at the ceremony.

"I understand that no words or actions can truly alleviate the pain. I have personally experienced a similar situation," Biden expressed in a call that was recorded and later shared by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper.

"I received a phone call," Biden states in the video, his voice resonating through the speakerphone, discussing the tragic loss of his first wife and their infant daughter in a car accident back in 1972. In 2015, his son Beau passed away due to cancer.

However, Friday's ceremony is unlikely to appease his critics, who are urging him to take action against Iran. He had to patiently await the passing of individuals before acknowledging the necessity for action. Are you serious? Nikki Haley, a candidate in the Republican primary, stated Trump, her main rival for the party's nomination, has criticized Biden for being weak.

There has been a surge of anger in the Middle East due to Israel's extensive military operation in Gaza. This operation was initiated in response to a significant attack by Hamas on October 7. As a result, tensions have escalated in various countries across the region, including Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen, where Iran-backed groups have become involved in violent conflicts.

Since mid-October, there have been over 165 attacks on American forces in the region. US forces have been conducting airstrikes in response, as Washington has expressed its desire to prevent a regional war and avoid any confrontation with Iran. The White House has stated that they will deliver a response of significant importance to the Jordan base attack.
