Star-Studded Fundraiser Led by Presidents Biden, Obama, and Clinton Faces Protests Amid Gaza Crisis

President Joe Biden, his Democratic predecessor Barack Obama, and former President Bill Clinton led a star-studded fundraiser on Thursday. They defended the White House's handling of the Gaza crisis in a strong way while protesters stopped the event.

Biden went to New York on Air Force One with Obama and then had a conversation with Clinton at Radio City Music Hall, which was hosting by "The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert and watched by tens of thousands of people. The event raised more than $25 million for Biden's bid to stay in office in the U.S.

But there were protests inside the huge hall during the fundraiser. People stood up and yelled over the talk several times, referring to Biden's support for Israel in the Hamas war that has killed more than 30,000 people in Gaza.

Someone yelled, "Shame on you, Joe Biden!"

Obama and Clinton talked about the Gaza situation from the point of view of being president, which emphasized the political facts of the job.

They said that a president should be able to back Israel and fight for the Palestinians to have better access to food, medicine, and a future state.

Trump said, "It is a lonely seat." "Being president means having to deal with the fact that the world has a lot of sadness and evil as well as happiness and beauty."

He said that it is "understandable" that people often want to feel "pure" about how decisions are made. "It is not possible for the president to do that."

Someone in the hall spoke up and stopped Obama. The former president replied, "You can not just talk and not listen...""They do that on the other side."

The two past presidents also supported Biden's control of the economy, which studies show is not very well liked.

Clinton said that Biden's economic numbers have been much better than those of Trump's government.

Trump said, "I believe in keeping score." They say, "He is been good for America" and give him another term.

Before the event, the motorcade carrying the three leaders went by hundreds of protesters who were against Israel's war with Hamas in Gaza. This is another sign that young voters and other progressives who voted for Biden in 2020 are angry that he stood by Israel in its response to the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks.
