A deadline for posting a bail in the $454 million judgment in the former president Trump's New York fraud case is approaching, so Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) issued a warning on Sunday about the "risk" of not taking the former president's assets.

"I believe that the political pressure we are facing is the much more significant and severe verdict against Donald Trump, as well as the amount of debt he has, the financial strains he faces, and the actions he has to take to acquire those assets," Ocasio-Cortez stated on CNN's "State of the Union."

"In my opinion, there is a danger in not taking possession of these assets and the possibility that he will attempt to obtain these monies in another way," the speaker said. Numerous intriguing transactions with Truth Social and other methods have come to our attention. Additionally, there is a genuine chance of political corruption.

Trump has until Monday to pay the enormous bond sum. He runs the prospect of having his assets taken by New York Attorney General Letitia James, whom he has been criticizing in recent days, if he is unable to post a bail.

Due to a paucity of cash on hand, Trump's attorneys said last week that it would be "impossible" for him to get a full appeals bond in that amount. Subsequently, Trump said that he had around $500 million in cash before the deadline.

On Sunday, Ocasio-Cortez said that when it comes to whether or not Trump's assets should be taken, he should be handled similarly to everyone else.

"I believe that Attorney General James has shown extraordinary expertise in managing this matter. Though in the end, I think she should have the same legal protections as everyone else. Donald Trump ought to be handled equally, she said, if the asset seizure were to be applied to any other American.
