The district attorney said on Thursday that a 26-year-old man who lives at a motel in Rockland that houses migrants is being arrested without bail on a charge of child rape after he is allegedly accused of raping a 15-year-old girl.

At his arraignment on Thursday in Hingham District Court, Cory B. Alvarez, a resident of Haiti, entered a not guilty plea to one count of aggravated rape of a minor, according to Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz. He was detained without being granted bail until a dangerousness hearing, set for March 22, was being conducted.

Cruz said that Rockland Police were called to the Comfort Inn, located at 850 Hingham St., at about 7:06 p.m. on Wednesday, regarding an allegation of a sexual assault. Alvarez resided in the Comfort Inn, which is now a part of a federal and state program to accommodate migrant families.

The adolescent victim was discovered by the responding police, Cruz said, and was then transported by EMS to South Shore Hospital for medical attention.

Through a translator, the girl, who only speaks Haitian Creole, informed detectives that she went to Alvarez's room so he could assist her with some tablet applications before he physically attacked her.

"I asked him to leave me alone, but he did not stop," the accused victim reportedly said to authorities.
