There are more legal and illegal immigrants in the United States now than at any other time in history. This is because President Joe Biden wants to keep the borders open.

The Center for Immigration Studies, a group that supports stricter border laws, looked at Census Bureau data and found that the number of immigrants (51.1 million) and their share (15.5%) are both the highest they have ever been.

According to the Current Population Survey from the Census Bureau, the number of foreign-born or immigrant people (legal and illegal) reached a new high of 51.4 million in February 2024. This is 6.4 million more than when President Biden took office. The number of people born outside of the United States is also a new high point, at 15.5%.

Steven Camarota and Karen Zeigler, who wrote the report, said, "The huge increase in immigration over the past three years has effects on almost every part of American society, such as the public purse, the job market, schools, hospitals, and the balance of political power, not to mention whether we can integrate this many people."

There are several important parts of the study that talk about where the immigrants came from, how much schooling they had, and what portion of the American workforce they now make up.

That list does, however, start with Biden, who is to blame for the big rise. The study said, "Since President Biden took office in January 2021, the foreign-born population has grown by 6.4 million, which is more than the total population of 33 states."

People are talking a lot about Biden's efforts to stop former President Trump from controlling the border. Reports say he wants to deal with it by letting people who came in illegally stay, which is sure to make things worse.

While CIS said, "At 172,000 a month, the average increase in the foreign-born under President Biden is four times the 42,000 average monthly increase under Trump before COVID-19 hit and double the 68,000 average increase under Obama."

Also, Camarota and Zeigler wrote, "If current trends continue, the foreign-born population will reach nearly 60 million and 17.5% of the U.S. population by the end of a second Biden term—both numbers would be unprecedented in American history."

The people who came are mostly from Latin America. Most of them do not have much schooling. Nearly half (44%) have not gone to college or trade school. And they are taking all the work in the U.S. There were 31 million foreign workers in February 2024, making up 19.3% of all workers. This was a new record high. "The number of immigrant workers is up 3.3 million since February 2020, right before COVID, while the number of U.S.-born workers is down 1 million," the study said.
