GOP Congressional Candidate JR Majewski Withdraws from Ohio House Republican Race

JR Majewski, a contentious congressional candidate, announced his withdrawal from the Ohio House Republican campaign on Saturday evening. Air Force veteran Majewski considered withdrawing his campaign earlier this week, just after early voting began in Ohio, but confirmed his decision in a statement on Saturday.

He posted the statement on X, formerly referred to as Twitter, attributing the decision to the "deep state" and clarifying that former President Trump had not request him to withdraw from the race.

Majewski said that while being confident in winning and having a strong chance in the general election because to his clean record, he believes the Deep State would make efforts to oppose him. “They even went as far as attacking my family and once again accusing me of stolen valor.”

Majewski said that the most effective approach for him to support those who believe their opinions are disregarded by the influential people in Washington, D.C., is to focus his efforts on supporting Trump in the next 2024 presidential election.

In 2022, Majewski, the GOP contender, received an endorsement from Trump. However, his campaign suffered a permanent decline after it was discovered that he had falsely claimed to have been in combat in Afghanistan. In February, he received criticism for using an ableist slur during a podcast appearance.

In April, he entered the campaign to challenge Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) but withdrew in May due to his mother's health. Majewski subsequently reentered the race.

The Ohio GOP primary is scheduled for March 19th. The District has always favored the Democratic party, but the recent redrawing of the congressional map has increased the chances for the GOP to compete for Kaptur's seat.
