New York Moves to Seize Trump Property: Is Westchester County at Risk?

It seems like the attorney general's office in New York liked what it saw in Donald Trump's real estate holdings. CNN says that recent state filings in Westchester County may indicate a move toward the seizure of Trump's private residence and golf club, Seven Springs, located north of Manhattan.

Such an asset seizure may come next if the $464 million court judgment against Trump, his sons Eric and Donald Trump Jr., and the Trump Organization is not paid. On March 6, the attorney general's office filed judgments, which is the first step a creditor would take to attempt to reclaim property.

According to court documents, the agency has already filed a judgment in New York City, which is home to a number of the former president's assets, including Trump Tower, but not in Florida or Illinois. Trump has four days to either make the decision or persuade the court to provide a lower bond sum, which he would then be required to pay while he files an appeal of the fraud ruling.

According to ABC News, Trump said on social media on Thursday that the courts will "guide" his choice. In the event that Trump fails to make his payment by the deadline, state attorney general Letitia James has threatened to start seizing his assets. According to one lawyer, that would take some time. Kevin O'Brien said, "These properties are huge, they have debt, and they have tenants."
