In a recent interview, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that he would not be against taking a job in the White House in the event that former President Donald Trump is reelected in November.

Mr. Pompeo said, "If I get a chance to serve and think that I can make a difference," when asked whether he would work for President Trump again during a Fox News interview. It is quite likely that I will accept the chance to try and do what is best for the American people.

He said, "I am sure President Trump will be searching for individuals who will faithfully carry out what he asks them to do," in the March 8 interview. "As president, I believe you should always want that from everyone."

As a previous secretary of state, he said, "I was really frustrated when I discovered that I could not get my team to do what I was asking them to do."

Before taking on the role of secretary of state from 2018 to 2021, Mr. Pompeo, a former Kansas congressman in the U.S. House, headed the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) during the Trump administration from 2017 to 2018. Before declaring that he will not be running for president in 2024, there was conjecture that he may launch a Republican presidential campaign after leaving office.

As there were speculations in 2023 that Mr. Pompeo might run for president, he made fun of his former employer by telling Fox News that "the Trump administration spent $6 trillion more than it took in, adding to the deficit."

"It is never the best course for the nation," Mr. Pompeo said.

While pushing Republicans to make a decision before to the 2024 election, he also seemed to poke fun at the 45th president at a public address last year by denouncing "celebrity leaders."
