Vladimir Putin Set to Win Russian Presidential Election with 90% of Votes: Official Report

According to reports from Russia's Central Election Commission (CEC), incumbent President Vladimir Putin is predicted to win this year's presidential election with close to 90% of the vote. As of 23:00 Moscow time, the CEC reports that over 50% of the votes have been tallied, with Putin winning the race with an estimated 87.3% of the total.

Previous exit polls revealed similar patterns, with 87.8% of respondents predicted to vote for the head of state.

Expected to finish in second place with 4.7% are Nikolay Kharitonov, the Communist Party's opponent, and Leonid Slutsky, the Liberal Democrats' 2.5% and Vladislav Davankov, the New People party's 3.6%.

At polling places throughout the nation, 466,324 voters participated in the exit survey.

According to CEC statistics, voter participation in this year's election exceeded 74%, setting a new record.

Voter registration has already concluded in a number of Russian areas. In the two new Russian areas where voters are casting their ballots for the first time, Lugansk People's Republic (LPR) and Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Putin has garnered 94.12% and nearly 95% of the total votes, respectively.

The current president is leading the four contenders with about 90% of the vote, according to the results from the Chukotka Autonomous Region, the Republics of Tyva, Khakassia, and Yakutia, the regions of Zaporozhye, Kherson, and Khabarovsk, and the Republic of Tyva.
