Donald Trump, the former US President, has expressed concern about Israel's diminishing support and urged them to conclude their conflict in Gaza to prevent further damage to their reputation. The remarks were a unique instance of Trump expressing disapproval towards the Jewish state.

During an interview with Israel Hayom, Trump expressed his support for Israel's response to the attack by Hamas in October, stating that he would have taken similar action if the US had been attacked. "That is something that any sensible person would do," Trump added.

However, Trump criticized Israel's extensive destruction of civilian homes in Gaza as a significant error.

"It is quite a negative portrayal of the world." Everyone is witnessing this...Trump continued, "Every night, I would witness buildings collapsing onto people."

Just go ahead and take care of what you need to do. He mentioned to the Israeli newspaper that it is not something you do. "And I believe that is one of the factors contributing to the significant pushback." I would watch every single night, and it seemed like nobody noticed... I believe Israel wanted to demonstrate its strength, but there are times when it may not be the best approach.

During his time in the White House, Trump formed a strong alliance with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and proudly proclaimed himself as a staunch supporter of Israel. He implemented sanctions on Iran following a request from Netanyahu, relocated the US embassy in Israel to West Jerusalem, and facilitated the Abraham Accords, resulting in the normalization of relations between Israel and Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, and Sudan.

Unfortunately, this relationship took a turn for the worse when Netanyahu extended his congratulations to US President Joe Biden for his electoral victory over Trump in 2020. In an interview with Fox News in October, Trump stated that Netanyahu was not adequately prepared for Hamas' attack. During a campaign event later that day, Trump expressed his opinion that Netanyahu should address his intelligence apparatus.

As the war in Gaza nears its six-month mark, the former president advised Netanyahu to bring it to a quick end. During an interview with Israeli journalists, he pointed out that there is a significant loss of international support.

"You need to wrap up your conflict," he stated. "You really need to get it done." I am confident you will be able to accomplish that. We really need to find a way to achieve peace and put an end to all of this.

Netahyahu has expressed his determination to persist in the fight until Israel achieves what he refers to as "total victory over Hamas." He has also made a commitment to enter the city of Rafah, despite the White House's appeals, even though it is currently housing over a million displaced Gazan civilians. On Monday, the Israeli leader decided to cancel a visit to Washington by an Israeli delegation that was meant to discuss the planned Rafah operation. This decision came after the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The resolution was successfully passed as a result of the US choosing not to vote. Considering Washington's usual unwavering support for Israel at the UN, the decision to abstain and not veto by the US was viewed by experts as a significant display of discontent with Netanyahu's actions in Gaza.

In response to a cross-border raid by militants, Israel initiated a war against Hamas on October 7. The conflict resulted in the loss of over 1,100 lives and the taking of at least 250 hostages. According to the enclave's health authorities, more than 32,000 Palestinians have lost their lives due to Israeli forces.
