Declaring his intention to fact-check President Joe Biden's State of the Union speech, former President Donald Trump made the announcement.

Often the subject of in-the-moment fact-checking by groups and media, Trump chose to reverse the narrative by announcing that he would do the same to Biden. Trump took care to mention in his announcement on Truth Social that he would be monitoring any remarks on immigration and the charges against him.

He continued, "I am happy to let you know that we will be performing a LIVE, play-by-play of Crooked Joe Biden's State of the Union Address tomorrow night." "I will promptly refute any and all false statements, particularly those about the border and his weaponization of the DOJ, FBI, Attorneys General, and District Attorneys to pursue his Political Opponent, ME (a first for this nation!). We have successfully broken all records when we have done this previously. It is critical that the nation learns the TRUTH!

As mentioned in the article, Trump took similar action the previous year. His taunting of Biden was more overt in last year's announcement.

"This speech has the potential to rival any of the world's great orators, including Lincoln, Washington, and, of course, the late, great Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Winston Churchill, if properly done and if Joe has just a modestly good night," he said at the time.

Following Super Tuesday, Trump and Biden's respective primary opponents, Nikki Haley and Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN), withdrew, setting up a rematch in November.

Both Biden and Trump had resounding wins in the races, which put them in the running for the independent and undecided voter votes that Haley and Phillips had left behind.
