CNN says that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis told GOP donors at a secret gathering over the weekend that he will help raise money for former President Donald Trump. During the GOP race, Trump made fun of DeSantis by calling him things like "Ron "DeSanctimonious."
The gathering took place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, where DeSantis met with big donors and former members of his campaign's finance committee. CNN says that the gathering took place on the same weekend that Trump's campaign stated that Mar-a-Lago would be gifting $50 million.
A donor from Texas named Roy Bailey told CNN, "He is committed to helping Trump in any and every way." Bailey also attended the gathering. "We will do what he says, and we are excited to do everything we can to help Trump win."
It is our goal to make sure Biden does not get re-elected, so we need to do everything we can to get our donors to support Trump and give him more support.
There have been no campaign meetings with DeSantis since he backed Trump in the GOP primary, a few weeks after dropping his bid for president.
The Trump team has not said anything about DeSantis's new action, and it is still not clear if they want the governor of Florida to help.
