Elon Musk has been worried about AI for a long time, and his latest assessment is not likely to change the minds of people who feel the same way. In an interview that aired live on his X social media platform on Monday, the CEO of Tesla and co-founder of ChatGPT maker OpenAI said that AI could have more brain power than people as early as 2025.
According to the Financial Times, Musk told Nicolai Tangen, CEO of Norges Bank Investment Management, "My guess is that we will have AI that is smarter than any one human probably around the end of next year."
From there, Musk predicted that within the next five years, AI will be smarter than all of humanity's efforts put together. Plus, he said he thinks that deadline will stick as long as there is enough electricity and hardware to power the needed technology.
