Speaking about his new movie "Blood for Dust" in an interview with ScreenRant, Kit Harington said that his "Game of Thrones" spinoff about Jon Snow is "off the table" and no longer being worked on at HBO. The network did not want to say anything. There was news in June 2022 that Harington was going to play his famous "Thrones" part again. For this role, he was nominated for two Emmys: one for supporting actor and one for lead actor in a drama series.
After writing the book, George R.R. Martin revealed in a blog post that Kit Harrington was the one who came up with the plan. It is not yet okay for me to give out the names of the writers and showrunners, but Kit also brought in his own team, and they are great.
Harington told ScreenRant that the team "could not find the right story to tell," which means that the project is no longer being worked on.
Harington said, "I had not really talked about it because it was still being worked on." "I did not want the fact that it was being worked on to get out." When people start to think about something and either love or hate the idea of it, I did not want that to happen. It might never happen. When you are in creation, you look at everything and decide if it is worth it.
"And it is not right now. At the moment, it is not an option because none of us could come up with a story that would get everyone excited enough, he said. "That is why we chose to put down our tools for now." We might go back to it at some point in the future, but not right now. It is very much on the shelf."
The last episode of "Game of Thrones" showed Jon Snow being sent out of Westeros to start a new life with his direwolf Ghost and the Wildlings. A lot of fans thought that the side show would continue with Snow's experiences with the Wildlings.
Last year, Liam Cunningham told Den of Geek that he could not wait to play his "Thrones" character Sir Davos Seaworth again on the Jon Snow series. He was so excited about the role that he even called out to Harington personally.
Cunningham said, "I did text Kit and say, 'Better Call Davos.'" "I still have not heard back. I think you know more than I do. Someone should get the best of luck, and if the check is big enough, I might even show up again!"
There will no longer be a Jon Snow sequel, so Cunningham can rest easy. "House of the Dragon" will return for a second season this summer, and filming for "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight" has begun. The "Thrones" world will live on on HBO and its streaming service Max.
"The Hedge Knight" just recently announced its main cast. The story is based on Martin's "Tales of Dunk and Egg" books, which have the characters Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg. As of now, Peter Claffey is playing Dunk and Dexter Sol Ansell is playing Egg.
The new movie by Harington, "Blood for Dust," comes out in theaters and online on April 19.
