Discovery of Missing Boy's Remains Leads to Gruesome Find in South Buffalo Residence

Over the years, over 160 complaints have been made about the decaying remains of 12-year-old Jaylen Griffin, who went missing, that was discovered in a South Buffalo residence. There were allegedly found to be at least three other corpses there.

Nearly four years after Jaylen Griffin went missing in August 2020, his corpse was found at the Sheffield Avenue property in South Buffalo, New York.

According to WIVB, the home has a history of police involvement, with over 160 complaints filed since 2007. Among the complaints were claims of three more remains.

A welfare check in June 2020 turned up one of these bodies, and in September 2022 an arrest followed the discovery of another.

Numerous difficulties, including fires, mental health concerns, and domestic violence, led to 911 calls to the multi-unit home.

The Buffalo Police Department cited a prior news conference on the finding of Jaylen's corpse while declining to comment on the claims.

After a renter reportedly seriously damaged their property, a neighbor is suing Sunrise West LLC, the landlords, and Spectrum Health and Human Services.

According to reports, Spectrum houses "high-need, high-risk individuals" in residences all throughout the city. The Independent contacted the group for more comments, but did not hear back.

On April 12, one week before Jaylen would have turned sixteen, his corpse was found.

Although they were unable to provide a timeline, police suspect his corpse had been in the residence for a considerable amount of time.

In September 2023, Joann Ponzo, his mother, passed away without knowing what became to her son.

On August 4, 2020, Jaylen disappeared from the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood. His mother said he would give tiny amounts to individuals to assist them with their baggage.

A few months thereafter, Jaylen's elder sibling, who was eighteen, lost his life in a shooting.

The mother's supporter, Kareema Morris of Bury the Violence, expressed her dissatisfaction with the police's lack of updates in spite of their continued efforts.

Two weeks after Jaylen vanished, Ms. Ponzo found a binder in the home with a sketch that said, "I am gone already." Ms. Morris said she wondered whether he had foreseen his destiny.

The Buffalo Police Department is offering a prize of $7,500 for information that results in the identification or indictment of Jaylen's killers.
