The constant flow of upsetting pictures from Gaza has made former US President Donald Trump say that Israel is "losing the PR war" there.

Donald Trump criticized Israel for putting out the "most heinous" and "most horrible" videos of buildings being destroyed by Israeli air strikes in Gaza in an interview with Hugh Hewitt on Thursday.

"And others think there are a lot of people in those buildings..." Trump said, "I do not know why they released wartime shots like that; they do not like it."

It must make them look tough. The way they look does not make them tough to me. The PR battle is lost. They are completely losing it. Their job is to finish quickly, though, because we need to move on with our lives.

Trump would not say exactly if he was still "100%" with Israel when asked, but he did say that Israel should "get the war over with quickly" and "get back to normalcy."

I do not really like the way they are doing it, because you have to win. He said, "You need to win, and it is taking a long time."

The choice to move the US embassy to Jerusalem is one of the reasons Trump says he is the most pro-Israel president in US history.

In addition, Trump has strongly criticized Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel. Netanyahu made Republicans angry when he said that US Vice President Joe Biden was legally elected president in 2020.

This was another warning Trump gave about Israel losing backing from other countries as the conflict went on in an interview with the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom last month.

Trump has also said bad things about Biden's handling of the Gaza war and stated that Jews who support Democrats "hate Israel," but he has not explained how he would handle the conflict differently.

On Thursday, the White House said that Biden had told Netanyahu over the phone that the US would only keep supporting the war if people were protected in "common, clear, and measurable ways."

Since the Israeli military killed seven aid workers for the US-based organization World Central Kitchen, including a US-Canadian citizen, Biden sent the greatest warning he had ever sent to a loyal US friend.
