Teun Kit Lee, a 55-year-old Massachusetts fugitive who fled during his 2007 rape trial and was found guilty in absentia, has been apprehended. Lee, known by the Massachusetts State Police as the "bad breath rapist," had been living with a woman who was unaware of his criminal history in a multimillion dollar house in the adjacent hamlet of Diablo. He escaped capture by making sure her name was on her belongings and identification.

When police stopped Lee and the woman on Tuesday, he gave a false identification at first but under duress, ultimately disclosed his real name. His fingerprints verified that he was Teun Kit Lee. The woman, who owned a flower store, remarked, "He cannot be the culprit."

Quincy Police Department Captain Daniel Guarente told ABC that investigators believed Lee was in California and may have been in contact with family. This prompted a targeted search in Diablo, which saw Lee's arrest following surveillance of the home and vehicle. Lee provided the name Randy Lee without having any identification on him.

Lee was first identified as the masked intruder who broke into a waitress's house on February 2, 2005, and sexually raped her. DNA testing verified this, and Lee's former attorney expressed disbelief at his arrest. The search for Lee involved hundreds of hours of investigation and a segment on "America's Most Wanted." Acting task force commander Sean LoPiccolo of the US Marshals Service expressed optimism that the victim and her family will find consolation in Lee's capture.

Teun Kit Lee is scheduled to be extradited back to Massachusetts to serve his sentence for his crimes after more than 10 years of evasion.
