Body Cam Footage Reveals High-Speed USPS Mail Van Chase in Sandusky County

A Sandusky County Deputy's body camera film from a traffic stop on Route 20 west of Fremont was just made public. Just now, he had stopped a USPS mail van for exceeding the speed limit—100 mph in a 60 mph zone.

"Is there a rationale behind your exceeding 100?" "I did not realize I was going that fast," the motorist responds in the video when the officer asks him.

The driver of the van seemed to be racing a Ford Mustang, and Sandusky County traffic reports said that the vehicle was missing its license plates. The deputy continues, "Yeah," in the body-cam footage. That Mustang, really, took off. I was pacing you at around 105 when you blasted by him, capturing my attention.

The postal woman said she was from the post office in Fremont. On Sunday, April 21, 2024, at around 1:51 PM, the halt occurred. According to court documents, the driver is Fremont resident Drew Brown, 28. After getting a verbal warning for racing, she waived the case, which is now closed, and paid $50 as the first payment of a $240 fine for the traffic infraction.

A USPS spokesman sent the following comment to 13 Action News via email: "Drew Brown works for a company. As a matter of policy, we are unable to provide more comments on a particular personnel situation while it is still under investigation. - Naddia Dhalai, USPS Spokeswoman."
