Former Trump Lawyer's TikTok Remarks Criticized by Judge: A Legal Showdown Unfolds

Michael Cohen, the former lawyer for former President Donald Trump, came under heavy criticism from Judge Juan Merchan as the defense brought up Cohen's ongoing remarks on social media. Cohen made an appearance on TikTok sporting a t-shirt with a picture of Trump in jail.

According to ABC News, Todd Blanche, the defense attorney, said that Cohen's remarks were becoming more and more troublesome, making it difficult for Trump to react to witness evidence. Judge Merchan expressed the court's dissatisfaction with Cohen's actions by instructing prosecutors to communicate his desire to the former attorney instead of giving Cohen an order to stop.

With each passing day of the trial, Cohen's evidence on Monday is sure to provide more light on the complex circumstances of the hush money payment. The legal processes are complicated in the meanwhile by talks about possible witness testimony, notably that of former CFO of the Trump Organization Allen Weisselberg.

The trial's course is still uncertain, with each new event influencing the story of this historic trial, as the prosecution have alluded to the potential of resting their case by the end of next week.

Judge Merchan's denial of the defense's request for a second mistrial highlighted the heated environment in the courtroom. A further intriguing aspect of the hearings was the defense's attempts, as New York Magazine reported, to refute the existence of a phone conversation between former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker and Trump assistant Hope Hicks. But in the end, the defense's case remained unclear since it was unclear if phone records that showed the conversation were available.

In addition, there was disagreement about Allen Weisselberg's role in the trial due to talks regarding his possible testimony. Weisselberg is now serving a jail term for perjury. As an alternative to Weisselberg testifying in front of the jury, Judge Merchan proposed that he testify outside of the room.

There was a sense of expectancy in the courtroom as prosecutor Joshua Steinglass hinted that the state's case would be ending soon. By the end of next week, the prosecution may decide to rest its case, which would set the way for the defense's opening statement and the prosecution's response.
