PGA Golfer Scottie Scheffler's Arrest After Fatal Accident at Valhalla Golf Club

The top-ranked golfer in the world, Scottie Scheffler, was arrested by Louisville Metro Police on Friday morning as he attempted to drive into the Valhalla Golf Club entrance, which is the venue for this week's PGA Championship.

Around five in the morning ET, a man was hit and killed by a shuttle bus, causing traffic outside the golf course to be blocked.

Scheffler was attempting to drive around the collision area on a median, according to ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington, who was there when the event occurred. Scheffler drove approximately ten or twenty yards toward the entrance despite a police officer's order to halt.

An police had once fastened himself to Scheffler's car's side. Scheffler pulled into the Valhalla Golf Club and put his vehicle in park.

Scheffler lowered his window to speak with the police after a brief interval of twenty to thirty seconds. Darlington said that the police pulled Scheffler out of the car by grabbing his arm. After pulling Scheffler out of the automobile, the officer reached inside to unlock the door. He then forced Scheffler up against the car and handcuffed him.

When Scheffler was taken into custody, Darlington was stationed at the door. Scheffler turned to Darlington and said, "Can you help?" according to Darlington.

Darlington said that an officer told him to move back.

"Darlington, you have to move out of the way," the officer said. "You are powerless to change this. He is going to prison."

The 27-year-old Scheffler had triumphed in four of his previous five appearances, including his second major victory in April at the Masters. Teeing off at 10:08 a.m. ET was the planned time.

A representative for the Louisville Metro Police Department verified to ESPN that a shuttle bus hit and killed the pedestrian outside Valhalla Golf Club, delaying the start of the second round.

The guy who was not recognized was hit in a bus-only lane while trying to cross Shelbyville Road at about five in the morning. The individual, according to the police, passed away there.

At 6:45 a.m. ET, a number of law enforcement officers and emergency personnel remained on the site. In the dark and rainy weather, there was a backlog of traffic on the road, and the shuttle buses that took golfers to the course had halted.

The PGA of America announced that play would start at 8:35 a.m. Eastern Time. Scheduled to begin at 7:15 a.m. ET was the second round.
