Officials said on Saturday that police had taken into custody the guy shown in a horrifying video dragging a lady down a Bronx street with a belt around her neck and then sexually abusing her in between two parked automobiles.
According to a police source with knowledge of the case, 39-year-old Kashaan Parks was apprehended on Saturday morning at a relative's home in the Bronx. He faced accusations of public lewdness, harassment, rape, assault, strangling, and sex abuse.
Parks' victim expressed her happiness to the Daily News that he had been apprehended by the authorities.
"Yes, he did indeed rape me," the lady said bluntly. "I am not acquainted with him. He is not from this area. It surprises me.
Parks' hearing in Bronx criminal court on Saturday evening resulted in his detention without bond.
At about three in the morning on May 1, Parks was seen on camera pursuing his 45-year-old victim on E. 152nd St. at Courtlandt Ave. in Melrose. He then threw a belt around the woman's neck, pulled her to the ground, and hauled her between two parked automobiles, according to the police.
The footage shows the lady grabbing her neck in an attempt to break free from the belt while being dragged over the pavement.
