Two teens who went missing after jumping off a bridge on a dare made over group chat were found in Hartwell Lake, South Carolina. The bodies were not immediately identified but the School District of Pickens County confirmed they were students. The boys, ages 15 and 16, were sophomores and were found around 8 feet apart in about 15 feet of water.
They were with a large group of friends daring one another via a group chat to jump off a bridge into the lake. One of the boys landed "awkwardly" in the water, possibly causing him to go into distress. Another boy jumped in to try and save him, but also went into distress. Both were pulled underwater and neither of them came up. Friends called police around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
A third boy who also jumped in was pulled out of the water by a boater. Emergency responders came in from surrounding counties and towns, but a lack of visibility made it difficult to locate the boys.
