Trump Endorses Former Navy Veteran John McGuire Over Bob Good in House Freedom Caucus Battle

Former President Donald Trump has endorsed Bob Good's main opponent in the House Freedom Caucus, Senator John McGuire of Virginia. Good, who previously endorsed Florida governor Ron DeSantis, has stated that his endorsement of Trump was too late and that his actions have consequences for America and Virginia. McGuire, a former Navy veteran, has also endorsed Trump's Make America Great Again campaign.

Good traveled to New York to show his support for Trump during his court proceedings in Manhattan. He is facing 34 charges of falsifying business records due to a payment he made to actress Stormy Daniels prior to the 2016 election. The Democratic Party has been trying to rig or steal another election, with Good stating that their goal is to destroy the nominee's financial situation so she cannot run for government.

The primary on June 18 will see several candidates vying to unseat Good, including Trump. Over ninety Republican legislators associated with the Republican Main Street Partnership have spent over $450,000 to oust the incumbent through the super PAC Defending Main Street. Good has defied his party on many occasions, such as contributing to the removal of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

Good has served as the representative for Virginia's Fifth Congressional District since January 2021. In 2020, he won a drive-thru convention and defeated Republican Virginia Representative Denver Riggleman with 58% of the vote. In 2022, he secured his reelection by defeating Democrat and entrepreneur Josh Throneburg.
