Conservative podcaster and entrepreneur Alex Jones, who shared theories about the 2012 Newtown, Connecticut school tragedy that took 26 lives, has chosen to cease contesting the sale of his assets to provide compensation to the families affected by the Sandy Hook incident.

Jones's interest in his Infowars online program is part of the liquidation, but the families are also pursuing Jones' social media accounts, arguing that they should also be part of the proceedings since the he may utilize them in the future to launch new ventures, according to the Hill.

According to Reuters, the families filed a motion with a Houston bankruptcy judge on Wednesday to take Jones' 2.3 million-follower @RealAlexJones X account and transfer it to a trustee appointed by the court. They said that Jones has previously been using his X account to direct people to a website for health supplements connected to his father, Dr. David Jones, a dentist, and that the account is "no different than a customer list of any other liquidating business."

Nearly five years ago, Elon Musk, the owner of X, banned Jones from the platform. However, in late 2018, Jones was granted access again after a survey. Jones' case will change on Friday from a Chapter 11 bankruptcy to a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which is more conducive to liquidation. On the social media profiles, the families have set a hearing with the Houston court at that time. Jones' attorney, Vickie Driver, retaliated on Thursday, telling Reuters that "the Connecticut plaintiffs have never wanted money from Jones but to silence him," according to her statement.

Following a defamation settlement, Jones is liable for $1.5 billion for his claims, among other things, that the 2012 massacre was fraudulent. Jones claims to only have assets worth around $12 million. Jones now seems to be accepting that he has lost the battle with the families after years of conflict. He said on his program on Wednesday that "I think it is very accurate to say Infowars is a sinking ship," according to the AP. "However, I intend to remain on board until the ship completely sinks. I will then board the following ship at the last possible minute."
