Not even a year after getting married, Billy Ray Cyrus asked for a divorce from his wife Firerose. According to records that PEOPLE magazine was able to get, Cyrus, 62, filed for divorce in Nashville on May 22, after marrying to Firerose in October 2023.

Concerning Cyrus's reason for filing, the court documents talk about bad behavior in the marriage and an inability to come to an understanding. Cyrus is also said to be asking for the marriage to be canceled, citing scams as the reason.

Cyrus and Firerose, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodges, had been friends for a long time. During the coronavirus outbreak, they started making music together, which brought them closer together. In 2022, they began dating. Their wedding finally happened in October 2023.

They wrote on Instagram at the time, "10/10/23 will always be the beautiful, joyous day that our two souls united as one in holy matrimony."

"It was the most perfect, ethereal celebration of love we could have ever imagined."

They also made four songs together while they were together, called "New Day," "Time," "Plans," and "After the Storm."

"I survived my darkest nights only by the grace of God," Firerose wrote about their friendship at the time. So much truth is in these words, and my goal is to give people strength when things look the worst.

Firerose has called Cyrus the "love of my life," and the two have talked about their relationship in public before.

In August 2023, Cyrus went on Good Morning America and said, "We are kind of like..." It is peanut butter and jelly.

She has studied the symphony, and I am a singer-songwriter from Flatwoods, Kentucky, who plays the guitar with my left hand.

Firerose said at the time, "It is been a beautiful whirlwind, and I am so thankful that I get to live my dreams every day with the love of my life." Cyrus had used similar language to explain the link.

He called Firerose the "lovely love of my life" in an Instagram post on her birthday.

TMZ was able to get court documents that say Cyrus told Firerose she had until May 24 to leave their house. The records also show that he paid $500 per night for 10 days of temporary housing.

His second marriage, to Cindy Smith from 1986 to 1991, ended in divorce, and Cyrus filed for divorce from Tish Cyrus in April 2022. They had a daughter together named Miley.
