Isis Navarro Reyes aka Beraly Navarro: Arrested for Counterfeit Weight-Loss Meds Promotion on TikTok

A Long Island woman, Isis Navarro Reyes, has been detained for importing counterfeit weight-loss medications and using TikTok to promote them. Reyes shared hundreds of videos on weight reduction medications, including Ozempic, Axcion, and Mesotherapy, between November 2022 and November 2023.

She also mentioned being reachable via an encrypted messaging app for anyone wishing to acquire the medication. In December 2023, Reyes inadvertently began conversing with an undercover agent about her supply of the medication. The undercover agent transferred $375 to her per her orders. At a Shirley, Long Island post office, Reyes left a package containing Ozempic, which was delivered a few days later.

Prosecutors claim that one woman purchased a fake weight-loss medication from Reyes several times, giving herself 28 injections, leading to a dangerous drug-resistant illness. Reyes instructed her to inject herself with Mesofrance vials every three days, but the labels were written in a language other than English, which is against FDA laws.

The victim started exhibiting symptoms in July 2023, and her doctor determined that she had an infection caused by Mycobacterium abscessus, which is often caused by tainted drugs, medical supplies, and equipment. The New York Department of Health analyzed one of the vials the woman used for her self-injection and found a fast proliferating nontuberculous mycobacteria. Reyes may spend up to 20 years behind bars if found guilty.
