President Biden has announced that he will not pardon his son Hunter Biden's sentence after he was found guilty of three felonies related to firearms. Biden expressed his pride in his son, who has conquered his addiction and is considered one of the most intelligent and honorable individuals he knows. He also declined to commute Hunter's sentence, which could result in up to 25 years in prison. Hunter Biden has not yet received a sentence, but his attorneys are expected to file appeals.

The jury agreed with the prosecution that Hunter Biden had lied on a form about his drug usage when he purchased a speed loader, ammo, and a revolver in Wilmington, Delaware on October 12, 2018. It is against federal law for anyone who uses controlled drugs illegally to own weapons. Hunter Biden's family members were present during the trial, but President Biden avoided the courtroom to visit his son and family after the trial was over.
