Former President Donald Trump has declared himself "the political prisoner of a failing nation" after a Manhattan jury found him guilty of 34 charges of first-degree falsification of business documents during the 2016 presidential campaign. In a video released on Truth Social, Trump emphasized that November 5th was "the most important day in the history of our country." He claimed that the decision was "rigged" and that it was done by the Biden administration to hurt an opponent.

Donations to the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Trump campaign have surged after the guilty judgment, with the Trump campaign revealing that it had received $141 million in donations in May. Following the Manhattan jury's conviction, HarrisX ran an overnight survey, revealing that 43% of respondents said they would vote for Trump and 42% would vote for Biden if the election were to take place today.

Trump's popularity has somewhat increased following the guilty decision, with an ABC News survey revealing that 31% of Americans now regard him favorably, up from 29% in March. However, just 32% of respondents thought favorably of Biden, down from 33% previously.
