OFFICIAL MOVIE TRAILER: "1992" Ray Liotta, Tyrese Gibson; Heist Thriller Packed With Action

With the release of the official trailer for its suspenseful new action movie, which stars Tyrese Gibson, a veteran of Fast & Furious, Lionsgate is transporting fans to 1992. The long-awaited movie, which has been in production since 2015 and was originally known as Clash and April 29, 1992, is set in the midst of the L.A. Riots, when two tales collide as a result of the social upheaval.

With demonstrations all around and another group attempting to take advantage of the upheaval, Gibson portrays a father wanting to start over and make things right with his son in the hopes of keeping him on the right road. However, the video demonstrates that this is easier said than done. The trailer was released along with a release date of August 30, meaning that it would only be available at the conclusion of the summer.

In the teaser, the nation's anxiety increases as the historic Rodney King trial approaches a decision. Despite the mayhem, Mercer (Gibson) is merely trying to keep his son Antoine (Christopher A'mmanuel) safe. He even has plans to bring him to his place of employment for the time being. Though millions of dollars' worth of catalytic converters are lying about at Mercer's factory, another guy called Lowell (Ray Liotta) and his son Riggin Bigby (Scott Eastwood), along with his team, begin examining the facility at the same time.

They take advantage of the miraculous chance to strike when the not-guilty decision causes widespread indignation, running into Antoine along the way and kidnapping him. Before the worst happens, Mercer engages Lowell in a violent and desperate struggle in an attempt to rescue his kid.

Director Ariel Vromen and actress Liotta reunited on 1992, having previously collaborated in the acclaimed 2012 murder thriller The Iceman. After his untimely death in 2022, it also signifies the Goodfellas star's sorrowful farewell tour on cinema. As one of Liotta's last scene partners, Gibson expressed his pride in working with the actor, stating of him, "Ray Liotta blessed all of us in life while doing this film."

Since 1992 was Ray's final album, we are all really grateful that we were able to record such a brilliant and eerie performance." Apart from directing, Vromen collaborated on the writing with Sacha Penn, the author of Power Book III: Raising Kanan.

Snoop Dogg is one of the people who is finally making the movie happen. He just joined the project as an executive producer under his Death Row Pictures organization.

Although the rapper had worked with Gibson before, having starred opposite him in Baby Boy in 2001, he was also eager to join the cast since the movie provides a distinctive portrayal of one of the most important periods in L.A.'s history.

He was anxious to get the heist film, which has a renowned ensemble and explores Los Angeles society in the midst of a very dark period, on theaters worldwide.
