A month before to their own convention, the Democrats may establish Joe Biden as their presidential nominee, putting an end to any rumors that he would be replaced by a younger contender.

When the credentials committee of the convention convenes virtually on July 21, Mr. Biden may officially enter the race as the party's nominee, according to individuals who spoke with Bloomberg.

August 19 is the tentative start date of the Democratic National Convention, when delegates convene to customarily cast their votes for the party's presidential nominee.

Following his debate performance on Thursday, 81-year-old Democratic lawmakers and funders are urging him to step down so that a younger candidate may challenge Donald Trump in November's election.

However, Mr. Biden has indicated that he plans to continue fighting, something his family has pushed him to do. This past weekend, they joined him at Camp David, the president's country getaway.

The 56-year-old governor of California Gavin Newsom and the 52-year-old governor of Michigan Gretchen Whitmer are two of the candidates putting out their names to succeed Mr. Biden.

In order to guarantee that Mr. Biden appeared on the Ohio ballot, Democrats had already intended to nominate him before the convention started.

The deadline for applicants to be certified by the Buckeye State was originally scheduled for August 7, but it has now been pushed back.

Democrats have already changed the way they handle voting, including a possible roll-call vote "before delegates have convened in person" at the convention in Chicago.

According to the situation, Mr. Biden will get his party's nomination at the Republican convention on July 18, just after his Republican opponent, Donald Trump.

The US president was largely seen to have fared badly versus Trump in their discussion on Thursday, stumbling, mumbling, and losing his thread of thought.

"I am not sure what he said to finish that statement. Trump once said, "I do not think he knows what he said either."

Nevertheless, Mr. Biden made an impassioned appearance at a rally in North Carolina the next day, announcing that he would fight and win the presidential race.

Biden's family members have encouraged him to run for reelection while criticizing his inner circle, particularly senior advisor Anita Dunn and US President Bob Bauer, for the debate performance.
