"Fox & Friends" Host Warns Republicans: Don't Underestimate Kamala Harris as Just a DEI Pick

In a candid discussion on "Fox & Friends," host Lawrence Jones cautioned fellow Republicans against criticizing Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party's presumptive nominee, as merely a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) selection.

His concerns arose following comments from several GOP members, including Rep. Tim Burchett of Tennessee, who suggested Harris' candidacy was solely based on her racial and gender identity. This narrative emerged notably after President Joe Biden publicly endorsed Harris. Jones, aligning with co-host Steve Doocy and others on the panel, advised conservatives to pivot their focus towards Harris' political record rather than her identity.

He emphasized that harping on DEI grounds could alienate voters, potentially transforming the electoral battle into one mired in identity politics—a move he believes would be counterproductive for the Republicans. Reflecting on Biden's announcement that he intended to choose a Black woman as his running mate, Jones highlighted the importance of not letting such a criterion become the GOP's main line of attack—especially at a time when Republicans are making inroads within African American communities.

In his view, there are numerous other aspects of Harris' career that could be scrutinized without resorting to discussions that might be perceived as unnecessary or divisive by the electorate.
