While facing charges of hurling a tarantula at her roommate, a Republican candidate from Minnesota has refrained from refuting claims that she is an escort. A tarantula and other things were reportedly thrown at a lady who was renting a room in Marisa Simonetti's house earlier this month, leading to her detention as a candidate for the Hennepin County Board at thirty years old.
In addition, Simonetti has been suspected of being an escort; when questioned about this by the Star Tribune, she did not refute the accusation. Simonetti made a statement stating, "I have not done anything improper or dishonorable. You can not "simply go" when you are a poor lady experiencing domestic abuse and have a baby."
"I devised a strategy to safeguard my kid, which I carried out, and I am now affluent. Any story that condemns or shames women for having agency over their own bodies is not one I will embrace."
"It certainly beats endlessly swiping on Tinder and having my time wasted by guys looking for a free fun time," Simonetti told the Star Tribune.
She acknowledged having an account on OnlyFans. Republicans in the area have severed their ties with her, saying that she "does not reflect our values" and has "only served to embarrass the Republican Party."
After the altercation with her roommate, Simonetti, 30, who is running on a platform of "Rebuilding Safety through Family Values" in this year's election, is being charged with fifth-degree assault and domestic violence.
Furthermore, rumors also state that last year, the congressional candidate faced charges of felony bank card fraud against her ex-lover.
During a Fox 9 interview, Simonetti revealed that she leased her basement to a nearby lawyer named Jackie Vasquez. The lawyer needed a location to prepare for the California bar test. But the agreement broke down in less than three weeks.
Vasquez caught Simonetti pounding pots and pans, playing loud Christian music, and then tossing a tarantula down the stairs.
Since Simonetti does not own the property, it is unclear how she was able to rent the room. Due to many complaints, Simonetti told Fox that she requested Vasquez to leave, but he refused.
The lawmaker claimed that Vasquez was "squatting" at the house, but Vasquez said that she had paid $1,500 to use Airbnb to book the stay.
Simonetti said that the film Home Alone served as her inspiration. "And at the end of the day, unhinged got her out of the house," said Simonetti.
On her campaign website, the prospective legislator presents herself as the only conservative contender running and promises to restore safety via traditional family values.
In an attempt to garner support for her cause, Simonetti once uploaded a video on X in which she said that "low standards are selfish" and expressed her annoyance at hearing that "Minnesota is an embarrassment."
She lost the May 14 special election against State Representative Heather Edelson for the county board seat in District 6, despite using conventional GOP political tactics.
Simonetti was a candidate seeking a seat on the seven-member Hennepin County Board of Commissioners, which sets the budgets for the sheriff and county attorney offices.
Simonetti has said that she intends to run against Edelson once again in the November election, even in spite of this defeat.
Previous allegations against the conservative contender included transactions of $75,000 and $8,876 on the victim's bank cards and accounts.
The victim finally refused to cooperate with authorities, leading to the dismissal of the criminal charges.
