In the wake of the recent presidential debate, three new polls from battleground North Carolina have shown former President Donald Trump maintaining a narrow lead over Vice President Kamala Harris. Despite the tight race, each poll's results fall within the statistical margin of error, signaling an intensely competitive battle ahead as we countdown 49 days until November 5.

According to Quantus Polls and News, Trump initially secured a 1.7% advantage. This was closely followed by results from AmericanGreatness/TIPP Insights and The Trafalgar Group, which showed Trump ahead at 48.9%-45.9% and 48.4%-46%, respectively. These surveys were conducted with sponsorship from Trending Politics, American Greatness, and Trafalgar Group.

Current aggregations by RealClear Polling indicate a razor-thin edge for Trump at plus 0.4%, excluding Quantus's data, while Project 538 also places Trump slightly ahead by a similar margin of 0.4% (47.5%-47.1%). Given these figures, both campaigns are aggressively targeting North Carolina—a key state among seven deemed crucial in securing the presidency due to their combined tally of 93 electoral votes.

Campaign visits underscore this emphasis; Harris recently made her pitch in the state last Thursday, followed by her counterpart Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on Tuesday. Republican vice-presidential candidate U.S. Senator J.D. Vance is expected to visit on Wednesday, with Trump scheduled for an appearance in Wilmington on Saturday despite recent severe weather challenges.

The polling data comes from reputable sources: The Trafalgar Group's methodology involves a sample size of 1,094 likely voters with a margin of error set at 2.9%. American Greatness's survey included responses from 973 likely voters across three days and reported a slightly higher margin of error at 3.2%. It’s noteworthy that North Carolina has historically leaned Republican in presidential elections—with only Jimmy Carter in 1976 and Barack Obama in 2008 breaking through for Democrats since Lyndon B Johnson’s victory in 1964.

American Greatness entered the political arena in 2016 as a fresh conservative perspective, aiming to influence future discussions. During this election cycle, TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence conducted polls for the American Greatness/TIPP Insights survey. Similarly, The Trafalgar Group, also founded in 2016, has gained recognition for its innovative polling methods that break from tradition, earning accolades for accuracy in the last presidential election. Quantus Polls and News represents a new era of journalism with its Substack-based reporting model, focusing on election forecasts and economic and political analyses, highlighting the changing media landscape's involvement in political polling.
