Former President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Thursday to create a task force aimed at eliminating anti-Christian bias within the federal government. The announcement was made during his attendance at the second National Prayer Breakfast of the day at the Washington Hilton, where he emphasized his administration’s commitment to defending Christian Americans.

Attorney General Pam Bondi, recently sworn in, will lead the task force. Trump declared that while he remains in office, his administration will protect Christians in all aspects of American life, including schools, workplaces, hospitals, and public spaces. He promised efforts to unite the nation under shared values, stating, “We will bring our country back together as one nation under God with liberty and justice for all.”

According to the White House, the task force will include members from Trump’s Cabinet and key government agencies. Their primary focus will be to review and eliminate any policies, practices, or conduct within federal departments that target Christians. Additionally, the group is tasked with proposing necessary legislation to ensure long-term protections for Christian Americans.

The newly created task force will begin its work immediately. It will issue an initial report within 120 days, followed by a progress report in a year, and a final report upon its dissolution in two years. One of the executive order’s stated goals is to halt anti-Christian discrimination across agencies such as the Department of Justice (DOJ), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The order also criticized the Biden administration for what it described as a pattern of targeting Christians while neglecting violent anti-Christian acts. Specifically, it cited the prosecution of pro-life activists under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act and alleged inaction toward violence against churches, charities, and pro-life individuals. Trump recently pardoned those activists, further underscoring his administration's intent to reverse these policies.

Additionally, the order highlighted controversies like the 2023 FBI memo labeling “radical-traditionalist” Catholics as potential domestic terrorism threats and the Biden Education Department’s rollback of protections for faith-based organizations on college campuses.

In conjunction with the executive order, Trump announced the creation of a Presidential Commission on Religious Liberty. This commission, he said, will work “tirelessly” to defend religious freedom, which he described as under unprecedented threat in recent years. He also revealed plans to reinstate the Faith Office from his first term, which televangelist Paula White will lead.

“My administration will not tolerate anti-Christian weaponization of government or unlawful conduct targeting Christians,” Trump said. He reiterated that federal laws protecting religious freedom would be strictly enforced under his leadership.

Trump’s bold moves have sparked discussions across political and religious circles about the role of government in safeguarding religious freedoms. Will these steps truly make a difference in reducing discrimination, or will they deepen divisions? Share your thoughts and join the conversation below.
