The FBI, under the leadership of Director Kash Patel, is ramping up efforts to rescue American hostages held overseas while taking aggressive action against violent gangs like MS-13. At a State Department event honoring hostages and their families, Director Patel assured attendees of his commitment to bringing every American home. "My singular promise to you is that I will do everything as FBI director to ensure no other American family endures this pain," Patel stated.

Boosting Focus on Hostage Recovery

The FBI, alongside the Trump administration, is working tirelessly to bring home Americans held in countries such as Russia, Venezuela, and Gaza. Patel highlighted the agency's dedication, saying, "We are deploying every lawful authority available, 24/7, to zero out the number of hostages and prevent others from enduring this ordeal."

Marc Fogel, an American detained in Russia, was freed last month after a negotiated deal involving a Russian citizen detained in the U.S. This achievement underscores the administration’s focus on prioritizing the safe return of American captives. Adam Boehler, President Donald Trump’s special envoy for hostage affairs, joined the event, reaffirming the administration’s commitment. “If you’re abroad and taken hostage, this country has your back,” Boehler emphasized.

Cracking Down on MS-13 Gangs

In parallel, the FBI is delivering significant blows to domestic threats. Patel announced a major operation led by the FBI’s Virginia Homeland Security Taskforce, resulting in the arrest of 39 individuals, including high-ranking MS-13 gang members. On February 27, the FBI, working with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), apprehended David Alejandro Orellana-Aleman, a key MS-13 leader accused of overseeing gang operations across the U.S., Mexico, and Europe.

FBI Special Agent in Charge William J. DelBagno credited the collaboration between federal agencies for the arrest. "Maryland is immediately safer because of this operation," DelBagno said. ICE’s acting Field Office Director Matthew Elliston added, "This arrest strikes a significant blow to MS-13’s leadership and strengthens public safety in our communities."

The Fight Continues

As the FBI tackles hostage rescue and violent crime, Director Patel’s leadership reflects an unwavering commitment to American safety. From international hostages to domestic gang control, the administration’s resolve remains firm.
