President Trump’s strong leadership has led to a historic drop in illegal border crossings, with numbers falling to their lowest levels in decades. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data reveals a staggering 90% reduction in daily illegal crossings compared to the same time last year. The New York Post reports that only 359 illegal migrants are being processed daily, putting the United States on track to see the lowest monthly border crossings in at least 25 years. If this trend continues, illegal entry numbers could reach levels not seen since 1968.
Experts attribute this drastic change to President Trump’s firm stance on border security. Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, emphasized the unprecedented nature of these numbers. “If you break down the numbers, we haven’t seen anything like this since the 1960s. It’s a 60-year low,” he explained.
The data further highlights the scale of this achievement. By February 11, only 3,953 illegal migrants had been encountered at the southern border. If these numbers remain consistent, February’s total crossings could fall to around 10,000—a figure that has not been achieved since the CBP began tracking such data in 1999. Notably, the closest the numbers came to this was in April 2017, during President Trump’s first term, when monthly crossings were just over 11,000.
The shift in border policy under President Trump’s leadership has been widely felt. A Border Patrol source told reporters that migrants have clearly received the message and are reconsidering attempts to cross. This change stands in stark contrast to what many critics described as the weakest border policies in U.S. history, implemented under previous administrations, which fueled a crisis at the southern border.
President Trump continues to take decisive action to reinforce border security. Recently, he signed an executive order titled “Amendment to Duties to Address the Flow of Illicit Drugs Across Our Southern Border.” The order introduces adjustments to tariffs on specific imports while safeguarding the U.S. automotive industry and preserving its supply chains. The action demonstrates Trump’s ability to address multiple national priorities simultaneously, protecting both economic and border security interests.
With illegal crossings plummeting and policies tightening, the effectiveness of the administration’s border strategy becomes undeniable. Trump’s actions emphasize his commitment to American safety, economic stability, and the rule of law. His leadership has sent a clear message to the world: the United States will no longer tolerate open border policies that compromise security.
