According to police and school officials in the city of Newport News, a 6-year-old kid shot and critically injured a Virginia teacher on Friday during a fight inside a first-grade classroom.

According to police, there were no casualties among the pupils at Richneck Elementary School. The teacher, a 30-year-old woman, had injuries that could have killed her. By late afternoon, her condition had somewhat improved, according to Newport News Police Chief Steve Drew.

The student was taken into custody by police when it was reported that the child had a firearm in the classroom.

According to Drew, “There was no circumstance where someone was evading the school shooting.” “There was an incident where a gunshot was fired in a certain location.”
