President Biden has taken immigration and border security “extremely seriously since day one,” according to White House officials, who also blame Republican political gimmicks for the glacial pace of change.

Fox News’ Peter Doocy questioned White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Tuesday on if anyone there believes the southern border is secure.

In response, Jean-Pierre stated that Biden has prioritized immigration and has been working on border security since “day one,” adding that this is the reason he introduced a comprehensive immigration reform plan strategy.

She stated, “The president is stepping out and attempting to find solutions. “But in this case, as you are aware, Republicans are engaging in political pandering. And, as you may know, we have repeatedly called it out.”

Biden, according to her, is ready to collaborate with Congress, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents on these matters that are important to the American people.

But the president has taken this seriously from the beginning of his term, said Jean-Pierre.

President Biden signed one executive order on the southern border on the first day of his administration, which prohibited building a wall.

The national emergency declaration that served as a justification for some of the funding detours for the wall, according to the White House website, was terminated immediately by Biden.

The ruling also immediately halted wall building initiatives so that the legality of the finance and contracting procedures employed could be carefully examined.

After former President Donald Trump attempted to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, Biden strengthened safeguards for “Dreamers,” or young immigrants who were brought to the country as minors.

In his memorandum, Biden urged Congress to pass legislation giving immigrants who immigrated to the United States as youngsters and have since lived, worked, and contributed to the nation permanent status and a path to citizenship.

However, none of the president’s executive orders indicate that he immediately provided protection along the border.

In support of a more welcoming asylum policy, Biden claimed at a Democratic presidential primary discussion in 2019 that the U.S. tells those fleeing persecution or deplorable living conditions, “You should come.”

After taking office and dealing with migrants at the southwest border, many of whom were kept in subpar conditions similar to those the Democrats considered a scandal under the Trump administration, he then changed his tune and instructed the migrants to stay put.

Biden told ABC’s George Stephanopolous, “I can say pretty plainly don’t come over,” in 2019. “Therefore, stay put in your neighborhood or city. We’ll make sure there are DHS-run facilities in those cities and towns as well as access to HHS, the Health and Human Services, so that you can petition for asylum from your current location.”

Since being elected president, Biden has not traveled to the southern border. His government has sued states to prevent them from building barriers on their borders with Mexico as well as to cease the Trump administration’s Title 42 procedure. In response to a lawsuit filed by the Biden administration against Arizona, the state is removing cargo containers it had erected on the border to impede unauthorized crossings.

Doocy asked Jean-Pierre a different question on Tuesday, asking if the White House thought the border was secure.

Without much help from Republicans, 23,000 agents were dispatched to the border to control the flow of immigrants who were crossing the border illegally, according to Jean-Pierre, who said that Biden had taken historic measures that no other president had been able to undertake.

She never directly responded to the query but instead talked about the president’s response to the problem.

“It was just said by me. He is prepared to cooperate with Republicans “She spoke. “He’s open to collaborating with Democrats. He is ready to collaborate with Independents to address this matter and advance the comprehensive strategy he unveiled on the first day of his administration.”
