Elon Musk conducted a survey, and 57.5% of participants said they wanted him to stand down as CEO of Twitter. Musk, the owner of Twitter, had posted, “I will abide by the results of this poll.” Ten million or so of the seventeen million voters who participated in the poll agreed that he should resign. On Sunday, Musk posted a poll on the website asking visitors to cast their votes for or against his resignation. During the poll’s 12-hour runtime, just over 17.5 million individuals cast votes, with 57.5% of them, or roughly 10 million, supporting his leaving his position.
Musk had tweeted on Sunday afternoon, “Should I step down as head of Twitter? “I will follow this poll’s findings.” Musk tweeted in response to the survey, “Those who desire power are the ones who least deserve it,” and “As the adage goes, be careful what you wish for, as you may get it.”
Changpeng Zhao, the CEO of Binance, was one among those pleading for Musk to remain at the location. Just before the poll concluded, he tweeted, “Stay the course.” Additionally, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. advised Musk not to resign. Meanwhile, MrBeast of YouTube said he supported Musk stepping down from his position.
Since seizing control of the site in late October, Musk has surveyed users about a range of topics related to its management, including reactivating former president Donald Trump’s account and bringing back the video-sharing app Vine. Vox populi, vox dei, which translates from Latin as “voice of the people, voice of God,” is a phrase that Elon Musk has used to defend some of his contentious deeds.
But not all of Musk’s polls have come true. When he didn’t act on the results of a poll in which Twitter users voted in favor of his unsuspending accounts “who doxxed my specific location in real-time,” detractors mocked him and accused him of hypocrisy using the phrase “vox populi.”
The personal account of @ElonJet’s owner Jack Sweeney and other accounts, including @ElonJet, which posted publicly accessible information on the whereabouts of Musk’s private jet, are still suspended from the website.
People have differing opinions about Musk’s leadership of the social media network, with some applauding him for promising to support free speech and alter Twitter’s content-moderation practices. Others have raised concerns about the site becoming more hostile and questioned Musk’s hypocrisy in suspending some journalists.
Due to worries about content filtering, advertisers have rushed away from the platform, and Musk has appeared to implement new restrictions on a whim, some of which he later reversed. In a recently created poll, Elon Musk is asking Twitter users to determine whether or not he should continue to serve as the social media platform’s CEO.
Musk, who bought the business and took over as CEO in October, published the 12-hour poll at 6:20 p.m. on Sunday. 1,447,715 votes had been cast by 6:40 p.m. EST, with “Yes” and “No” receiving about equal amounts of support. In a tweet that contained the survey, Musk promised to respect the findings.

The Twitter CEO has already utilized the platform’s survey feature to decide important business matters. Musk predicated his choice to unban the account of former President Donald Trump on a 24-hour poll he published last month. With more than 15 million votes cast, users chose to reinstate Trump on the platform by a margin of 51.8% to 48.2%. Shortly after the 24-hour window closed, the CEO of Twitter declared that he would respect the results of the voting.
At the moment, Musk stated in a tweet, “The people have spoken. “Trump will get his job back. Vox Populi, Dei.

After the tweet, Trump’s old account on the social media platform reappeared, and users started reposting older tweets.

Musk defended the action, saying that the content made it possible for others to track down his family and find out where they were in real time and torment one of his young children.
