Having endured continuous attacks from former President Donald Trump since his resounding victory in the 2022 midterm elections, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) finally spoke out about them.

A reporter questioned the Republican governor about Trump’s recent assaults and his impending announcement of a 2024 presidential run during a press conference on Tuesday. Therefore, the reporter asked, “We would like to know what you think about Trump’s major announcement and some of the less than kind comments he has made about you.

Trump has attacked DeSantis, calling him “Ron DeSanctimonious,” as he gets ready to make an announcement about his reelection on Tuesday night at his Mar-a-Lago estate.

These assaults come at a time when many on the right, including conservative media organizations such as the New York Post and Fox News, have pushed Trump to give up on politics and hand the reins to DeSantis, who recently won reelection in Florida with a massive 19 percentage point margin.

DeSantis avoided addressing Trump in his answer during the press conference, which criticized the “corporate media” and celebrated his electoral triumph in Florida while saying the former president’s criticisms were “simply noise.”

DeSantis declared, “Well, you know, one of the things I’ve learned in this position is that you have to take incoming fire when you’re doing, leading, and getting things done. That’s just how things are. The following morning, I get out of bed. Corporate media channels are in a spasm, I tell you. simply the act of rising in the morning. And it’s always attacking, so this is simply the latest incident. Over the course of my four-year administration, I believe I received more criticism from corporate media than any other governor. However, in my opinion, everything you learn is merely noise. What counts most is if you are leading. Are you anticipating problems? Are you sticking up for people and delivering results for them? And if you follow through with that, none of that will matter. That’s what we’ve done as well. We concentrated on leadership and results. And, you know, I would just advise people to look at the scoreboard from last Tuesday night at the end of the day. Furthermore, the reality is (laghter and applause). You know, the truth of the matter is that it was the biggest Republican victory in Florida history.”
