Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States, told Breitbart that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy “deserves” a chance at the speakership. Also, Trump called on Republican Representatives Matt Gaetz of Florida, Andy Biggs of Arizona, Matt Rosendale of Montana, Bob Good of Virginia, and Ralph Norman of South Carolina to soften their adamant opposition.
Trump stated of McCarthy, “I like him.” “I find this whole thing to be a really risky game. There is potential for adverse outcomes. The difference between [former House Speaker John] Boehner [R-Ohio] and [former House Speaker Paul Ryan [R-Wisconsin] is night and day.”
Former president Bush was extremely critical of Ryan, labeling him “incompetent” and “the worst speaker in history.” At a Trump rally in Wisconsin in 2016, he said, the crowd booed Ryan off stage.
I think Kevin has worked very hard,” Trump stated. “It’s been a lot of work dealing with him. He may have traveled the world. He should get the opportunity to shoot. He will, we hope, be powerful and good, and he will carry out everyone’s wishes.”
While acknowledging that many of his opponents to the minority leader are friends of his, Trump reiterated his earlier warning that they were “playing a very dangerous game” that “may wind up with the worse situation.”
“An illustration I use is John Boehner and Representative Paul Ryan. Do you get my point now? This might be the end of the world. A possibility. There is a chance that you will select someone who will be a complete and utter failure, like Paul Ryan “And he went on to say.
