E1706: "Debt Ceiling Drama: Americans' Concerns or Just Another DC Circus?"

Nearly two-thirds of U.S. adults are anxious about the economy if the government defaults on its debts by not increasing the U.S. debt limit, but this concern comes amidst a lack of understanding of the debt limit negotiations. A recent poll showed that 60% of Americans think a rise in the debt limit should be paired with cost-cutting measures. In the survey, respondents were more unfavorable than favorable both towards President Biden and to congressional negotiators. Nevertheless, a slightly bigger number of Americans approve of Biden's handling than of the Republicans in Congress.
