This week, the Republican presidential candidate field grows by three. Former VP Mike Pence and ex-Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey have filed paperwork, while Governor Doug Burgum of North Dakota is expected to do so shortly. Although Mr. DeSantis is trailing Mr. Trump by a significant 30 percentage points among national polls of Republican voters, one in four Republicans are still hunting for an alternative option to the two front-runners. Thus, a fierce competition to be that other option is emerging despite the seeming lack of competition.
